Bacteria
99.9% reduction against S. aureus, MRSA, S. epidermidis, Enterococcus, E. coli, K. pneumoniae, and P. aeruginosa within two minutes of standard scrubbing.
Behavioral health research from the WHO Hand Hygiene Improvement Strategy reveals one truth that is often overlooked: compliance beats efficacy on paper. An antiseptic soap with 99.99% efficacy that is uncomfortable to use and abandoned by staff after a week will lose to a soap with 99.9% efficacy that is used consistently every time. EMGUARD® Hand Scrub Floral takes the scientific basis of a surgical scrub — Chlorhexidine Gluconate 4% — and pairs it with a floral fragrance designed to improve staff compliance in clinics, dental, wellness, and daily-care institutions.
The biochemical efficacy is identical to Hand Scrub Plain — the difference lies solely in the sensory profile. Every CHG molecule works the same way, whether or not a fragrance is present.
Positively charged CHG interacts with the negatively charged phospholipids on the microbial cell surface. Attachment is instant the moment contact occurs — the fragrance does not interfere with this electrostatic interaction.
At 4%, CHG achieves a rapid bactericidal kill — a 99.9% reduction of bacterial flora within two minutes of standard scrubbing. The cell membrane is damaged, and the cytoplasmic contents coagulate.
CHG binds to the keratin proteins of the stratum corneum, providing hours of residual protection. Clinical staff who wash their hands after every procedure gain an antimicrobial barrier that stays active throughout the shift.
The fragrance is chosen with a low-allergen composition that passes sensory panel testing. Its purpose is singular: to turn the hand-washing ritual from an obligation into an experience to look forward to — so that usage frequency increases organically.
The fragrance is added after the active formulation has been validated — it does not disrupt the antimicrobial spectrum. In-vitro time-kill assay testing yields a profile identical to Hand Scrub Plain against Gram-positive, Gram-negative, enveloped viruses, and pathogenic yeasts.

Effective against SARS-CoV-2, Influenza A & B, Herpes Simplex, RSV, HIV, Hepatitis B & C — important for dental clinics and healthcare workers with potential blood exposure.
Active against Candida spp. and dermatophytes. Suitable for healthcare workers who frequently deal with immunocompromised patients or infectious skin lesions.

Choosing between Plain and Floral is not about efficacy — both are the same CHG 4%. It is about the operational context and the sensory expectations of the area of use.
Plain is designed for OK, ICU, and areas where a fragrance is not desired (anesthesiologists who rely on their sense of smell, perfume-hypersensitive patients, clean room areas). Floral is designed for general clinics, dental, beauty clinics, wellness, and consultation rooms — where the sensory experience supports the compliance of staff who perform hand hygiene dozens of times per shift.
Designed for work areas that demand high efficacy together with a comfortable sensory experience for staff and clients.
For non-surgical (routine) use, the protocol follows the WHO Hand Hygiene Technique of 40–60 seconds. For invasive pre-procedure scenarios, follow the 2-minute surgical scrub SOP as with Hand Scrub Plain.
Use warm water. Make sure the water runs clean — not standing water in the sink.
A single pump press delivers the effective dose. The rich lather it produces is an indicator of even distribution.
Palm to palm, backs of hands, between fingers, fingertips, thumbs, and wrists. Make sure no area is missed.
Rinse under running water until all soap residue is gone. Dry with a paper towel or an automatic hand dryer. Avoid shared cloth towels, which can become a source of recontamination.

The safety warnings are identical to Hand Scrub Plain, with one addition related to the fragrance.
For a pre-operative surgical scrub, use Hand Scrub Plain. The fragrance can interfere with the detection of anesthetic gases and is not desired in the sterile OK environment.
Although the fragrance is designed to be low-allergen, individuals with a history of contact dermatitis to perfume should use the Plain version. Always perform a patch test on first institutional use.
CHG is not indicated for the middle ear (risk of ototoxicity) or for direct application to the meninges. Use care when applying to the face.
Cationic CHG loses its activity when mixed with conventional anionic soaps. Rinse off any other soap residue before application.
Must not be swallowed. Keep out of the reach of children without supervision. Consult a medical professional if an unusual reaction occurs.
Compliance is the result of experience, not instruction. We formulated Hand Scrub Floral because a positive experience every time you wash your hands is a quiet investment that pays back in the form of lower infection numbers, one month later.
